Travel aggregators optimize for volume. Algorithms surface what's already popular. The result is a kind of homogenization — the same handful of destinations crowding every recommendation feed, while the truly remarkable places stay buried: the cabin on a creek in the Arbuckle Mountains, the 77-foot waterfall with a natural swimming hole, the porch that faces something worth waking up early for. These places exist. They're just not the ones that get surfaced.

Wild Escape List is a curated online directory where travelers discover and directly book nature-immersive resorts and getaways across the United States. Every property is admitted by application and held to strict quality standards before it earns a listing. No algorithms involved here; either a property earns its place, or it doesn't. Simple as that.

The inaugural listing is Turner Falls Cabins in Davis, Oklahoma, and that choice was intentional. Turner Falls isn't a household name in travel media. It's a working waterfall park in the Arbuckle Mountains of south-central Oklahoma, with creek-side cabins, natural swimming holes, and the kind of stillness that's increasingly hard to find within a day's drive of a major city. The park is a favorite of Oklahomans, and it's also a hidden gem that a lot of the rest of the country isn't aware of. That's exactly what the list is for.

Alexander Velitchko, founder, launched Wild Escape List in 2026. "Travelers are telling us they want something real," he says. "A cabin by a waterfall, a porch on a creek. Wild Escape List exists to make those places easy to find and easy to book." The directory has an initial focus on the United States, and is designed to expand internationally as the list grows.
